A New Heart

New Heart is a church where the entire community can see and build life long relationships.  The Heart is truly a church family, so we make it our prerogative to ensure people feel welcomed and at ease when they walk in our doors.  We are convinced that building personal relationships that are real and lasting can be the first step to developing a life-long relationship with God.

Jim Clouse was raised in Corbin, Ky., and he has been a member of the Christian Church all of his life. He accepted Christ at the First Christian Church, Corbin, Ky. at the age of 11. Jim served in the Army from April 1966 thru March 1969 where he was honorably discharged and eventually returned back to Corbin, and back into being an active member of that same church. He worked for almost 38 years at L&N (now CSX) Railroad and traveled quite a lot during that time. Jim retired May 1, 2007.

His partner in life, Debbie, was a high school math teacher for 38 years in both Kentucky and Michigan.  She retired in July of 2012.  They have a daughter and son who live in Michigan, and are blessed with 4 grandsons ages 1 to 10.

Jim has served as an Elder, Deacon, Member and Secretary of the church’s Board in Kentucky, where he also taught an adult Sunday School class for 7 years.  He also served as a Deacon at a church in Livonia, Michigan before moving to Tennessee.  He and Debbie moved to Mt. Juliet, Tn. in Oct. of 2013 and joined New Heart on Easter of 2014.   You might see Jim and Debbie at the entrance door from time to time as they are part of the team of Greeters.  They belong to the Empty Nesters group, a journey group, and the New Heart Motorcycle riders club.

Steve Schwegler is the son of a Baptist Minister. Originally from Missouri and then moved to Illinois at the age of 3. At 9 years old Steve accepted Jesus and was baptized at his father’s church. He and his wife Cathy have three children and (4) four grandchildren.

In 1989, Steve was given the opportunity to move to Middle Tennessee to work as a representative for an industrial products company. He and his wife chose the Nashville area - specifically Mount Juliet. Steve and his family attended a couple of local Christian Churches where he served as a deacon and a member of the praise team.

In April of 2004 Steve learned that Stadia would be planting a Church in Mount Juliet. Even though he knew the challenges involved in Church planting he was compelled to take an active role in New Heart Christian Church.

Steve continues to work as a manufacturer’s representative in the southeast region and is a member of the NHCC Praiseteam as keyboardist.
